He spends the day in his house, watching TV and playing with his sisters and cousins. He is intellectually alert and wants to learning new things. He is very enthusiastic, talkative, open and full of life. He has a problem coordinating his hands and eyes and cannot read or write but he is willing to learn. He lives five minutes from the Foundation's future office and school. Koming used to go there often to "supervise" the work and ask when the school would be finish and when he could start. We already had our first student! Begonia use to take him out every week to the rice fields, to the village, and to the Bale Banjar (community center) for wheelchair training. People would stop and stare because it is very uncommon in Bali to see people in wheelchairs. Koming would always proudly explain that he will be starting school soon. He liked to tell Begonia what he thinks the school should have - a place for music, a place for sports, a place for exercise, and one for singing. He is so full of ideas and wants to be with other children. He wants to learning new things and he needs challenges other than just watching TV all day. Koming is one of those who give real meaning to our
programs. No one seven years old should be keep at home all day.
He should be in the school learning and playing with other kids and
developing his inquisitive mind. |
