Wayan Piyadnya is 16 years old and lives
in a small village called Kadewatan.
He has two brothers with similar handicaps.

Kupu-Kupu is the Indonesian word for butterfly.  We have chosen it as our name because it symbolizes the beautiful people that we serve who with a little love can escape their cocoons and fly away as butterflies.

Bali is an island of 2.5 million people which subsist on tourism and traditional rice farming.  The majority of the island's people are very poor and there is almost no support for the handicapped.  It is not unusual to see a severely handicapped person dragging themselves on the ground with what little abilities they may have.  This life is particularly harsh for children who are sometimes outcast by their families who cannot deal with the problems of a handicapped child.

Kupu-Kupu Foundation is a non-profit organization and non-governmental organization (NGO) whose aim is to improve the lives of physically and mentally disabled children, adolescents and adults on the island of Bali, Indonesia.  We are totally privately funded and always desperately in need of funds to keep our operations going.

Please read about our work and help us in any way that you can.  Just a little can make a big difference.

Become a Guardian Angel!

His name is Wayan.  He is five years old and until we got him a wheelchair he was confined to his small house.  He has never been to school.  But in spite of everything he has a wonderful and alert mind.

Unless we do something soon his mind with wither away and he will grow up incapable of interacting with the outside world and living a life of despair.

You can help Wayan to grow up and live a fulfilling life.  The time to act is now before it is too late.  Wayan is still young enough to be saved from a life of despair and utter dependency.  Help us get him into school, buy him books and school supplies, get him transportation to school, buy milk for him, get stimulating toys and get a physiotherapist to work with him.

Become Wayan's Guardian Angel and know that you have made a real difference in this boy's life.
