"Barbara took the time to understand what we wanted and went out and found it.  She not the type of realtor that just sits behind a desk looking at the MLS book.  She knows her stuff and got out to find what we were looking for.  We recommend her to everyone."

Pasadena & Altadena

A Beautiful Place to call Home

Nestled against the beautiful foothills of the San Gabriel mountains, the sister communities of Pasadena and Altadena are a unique combination of the old, new, traditional and contemporary.

Founded over 120 years ago, Pasadena is most famous for it's New Year Rose Parade and Rose Bowl feasts.  The first Rose Parade was held in 1890.

Pasadena's name comes from a Chippewa Indian word meaning "Crown of the Valley". In the early 1900's Pasadena's scenery and climate appealed to the very rich who began using it as their playground, arriving first as winter visitors and then as residents who turned Orange Grove Boulevard into Millionaires' Row.  In the 1940's and 50's, during the Golden Era of movies, it was a favorite get-away for the Hollywood stars.

Through the years Pasadena has retained it's charm and beauty even though it has grown into a bustling city of 133,000 that spreads out over 27 square miles.  Altadena, it's smaller neighbor to the north, sits further up in the foothills and has a population of 42,000.

People from all over Southern California flock to Pasadena's Old Town to enjoy the unique restaurants, small shops and alfresco dining.

Pasadena has several modern shopping malls, entertainment centers and some of the finest restaurants in the Los Angeles area.  It's revitalized Old Town has become a favorite for locals and visitors looking for a fun filled evening out. Pasadena has an active cultural scene and hosts the Pasadena Playhouse, the starting place for many famous Hollywood stars; the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, the site of several Academy Award ceremonies; and the Pasadena Philharmonic Orchestra.  International caliber museums include the Pasadena Museum, Norton Simon Museum, Pacific Asia Museum and the nearby Huntington Library in San Marino.

Pasadena is also home to Caltech and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where many of America's unmanned space flights are developed and controlled.

Pasadena has an excellent and well regarded public school system and there are many fine private schools in the area.  One of Los Angeles' most wealthy communities, San Marino, lies just south.

The Pasadena City Hall has been the backdrop for countless Hollywood movies. It was built in 1927 and is one the best examples of the California Mediterranean style
