Andrew Bucher and Jane Miller; Australia
28 November - 5 December 2001

Anne Schevine; Belgium
18 November - 6 December 2001

We first met Anne in Istanbul at the animal welfare conference sponsored by North Shore Shelter and National Canine Defense League (NCDL).  Anne is from Belgium working for an animal welfare organization PAWS and was running a dog rescue project on the Grecian island of Santorini.  We immediately made good friends and Anne promised us that she would visit us in Bali.  True to her word, we were pleasantly surprised when she arranged to visit us on a swing through south east Asia.  Anne assisted with the field clinics and offered several great ideas on the programs.  She's a bundle of energy and a fun person.

Anne left us we these thoughts, "What impressed me the most about this program is that it involves the local community.  The Foundation uses Indonesian vets and staff, and visits the villages.  The local approach of the Foundation is in my view the key to its success.  I also believe this model could be used in several other countries.  All in all, a great project with a Golden future."

Thanks Anne and best wishes.

Dawn Peacock; England
Oct - Nov 2001

Dawn has a perpetual smile on her face and a disposition to match.  Dawn is hooked on animal welfare and took off a few months from her job in London and her volunteer job with the RSPCA to do what she likes best - helping animal welfare projects around the world.  She came to us after having spent time working on a project in Africa.   Dawn learned about Yudisthira while volunteering for WSPA (World Society for the Protection of Animals) at the Asia Link Conference held in London in 2001.

Dawn worked  with the field clinics and "rolled up her sleeves" and did everything from dog catching to prepping and clinic restocking, cleaning and pushing the borrowed car when it broke down. Sherry discovered her capability on the computer and on her off days you could find Dawn working on one of the numerous spread sheets for Yudisthira keying in project data.  The team just loved her enthusiasm and spirit.

Thank you Dawn.

p.s.  And where did she go after leaving us? - to a rabies project in Sri Lanka of course!!

Update: Dawn is now working for WSPA at their London office.

Dr. Nigel Kittow; Matamata, New Zealand
June - July 2001

We have been blessed with visits by so many wonderful volunteers that it is hard to pick any out as having made more of an impact than others.  But Nigel is such a person.  He spent a full month with us and worked closely with the local staff.  In doing so he gained their friendship and respect.  He helped us with our procedures and protocols and made contributions too numerous to recount.  But perhaps the most generous of his gifts was to change the life of our lead veterinarian, Komang.  Nigel funded and hosted her for a one month sabbatical working in his practice in Matamata, New Zealand.  This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for Komang which forever changed her views of the world and veterinarian medicine.

We cannot thank Nigel enough for what he have given us.  He truly has made a difference.  He has our deepest gratitude.

Rebecca & Mike Weight; 22 February - 1 April 2001

Rebecca and Mike are from New Zealand.  Rebecca is a veterinarian and Mike works side-by-side as her assistant.  They spend more than a month with us working the field clinic and assisting with our teaching programs.  Like many before them, while initially planning only to spend a little time with us, then ended up spending most of their "vacation" with Yudisthira.  Rebecca and Mike are a wonderful couple and we shared many good times together.  Thank and please come back to Bali soon.
