Kindness Clubs Launched

(Sanur, 15 May 2002)  The Bali Kindness Clubs were formally launched at a presentation given on 15 May 2002 at the Natour Hotel in Sanur, Bali.  The presentation was attended by the Minister of Agriculture and representatives from the Governor's office.   Representing WSPA Australia, sponsors of the Kindness Clubs, were Georgia Stephenson, Margaret, and Jo Luping.

After a brief introduction by the a representative of the Governor's office, Drh. Putu Listriani, the head Foundation veterinarian, gave a slide presentation and described the work  and history of the Foundation.  Next Drh. Ni Nyoman Sutiati (Komang) presented some of the details of the Foundation's work and showed a video of a typical field clinic in operation.  Drh. I Ketut Puja then spoke about his recent 6 month sabbatical at the University of California at Davis' Animal Genetics Research Laboratory.  This trip was organized by Yudisthira.

Then Drh. Yudha Bantono, who teaches the  Kindness Clubs, explained how they the classes work and what they are teaching.  He showed a short video that showed scenes from Kindness Club classes set to the music "Teach Your Children".

The highlight of the launch was when thirty students from a participating school put on an actual class for the attendees.  Drh. Yudah demonstrated several of the lesson components that make up a typical class.  The children were really excited and jumped up and down and waved their arms around.  They loved the games and interaction.

Georgia Stephenson, head of the WSPA office in Sydney and sponsors of the Kindness Club project gave a brief presentation about the work of WSPA around the world.

The Minister of Agriculture was so impressed with the program and presentation that he invited Yudisthira and WSPA to his office after afterwards and pledged his support for the program.
