Bali Hyatt

These fun events that anyone with any dog can enter.  No previously experience is required.   Trophies and prizes will be awarded.   

PLACE

The field adjacent to the Rinjani Room at the Bali Hyatt, Sanur.  Please drive down to the end of Jalan Duyung, which runs along the south side of the hotel to the beach.  Drop off your dog at the end of the road and walk your dog along the beach to the show area.  PLEASE DO NOT WALK YOUR DOG THROUGH THE HOTEL.

EVENTS

Best Dressed Dog

Description:  Bring out your dogs real personality.  Dress them to show their best features.  Anything goes: formal, party, hats, play, dresses – anything.

Judging:  Judging will be based upon originality and execution.

Event:  Contestants will walk their dog on a leash around the area at the judge’s request.

Best Dressed Dog and Owner

Description:  Now is the time to show how you and your dog both have style.  Go wild with any costumes matching, complimentary, or thematic. 

Judging:  Judging will be based upon originality, compatibility, and execution.  “Compatibility” means the relationship between the owner’s and the dog’s costumes.  They don’t have to be the same, but should have something (theme, colors, etc.) which relates them.

Event:  Contestants will walk their dog on a leash around the area at the judge’s request.

Best Dog Trick

Description: Make your dog a star.  Show what great tricks they can do.  It can be anything from rolling over, jumping high, “playing dead” – anything.

Judging:  Judging will be based upon originality, complexity, and execution.

Event:  Contestants will have a maximum of 10 minutes to show their dog’s trick.  They may repeat the trick as many times as they wish within the allotted time.

Beauty

Description:  “Oh, what a beautiful dog.”

Judging:  Judging will be based upon grooming and overall look.

Event:  Contestants will walk their dog on a leash around the area at the judge’s request.   No costumes are permitted.

Obedience

Description:  Is your dog well mannered?  Do they do what you tell them? 

Judging:  Judging will be based upon how well the dog behaves.

Event:  Contestants will take their dogs through the following exercises:

Stay:  Sit your dog, command to stay in a standing position, then walk at least 4 meters away.  Wait at least 20 seconds

Come:  From the Stay position, call to Come.

Lie:   From a standing position (Stay), the owner commands the dog to lie down.

Sit/Walk:  From a sitting position next to the owner, the owner starts to walk.  The dog, without any command must get up and walk along the side of the owner.

Walk/Sit:  While walking on the dog is walking on the side of the owner, the owner stops.  The dog must stop and sit without any command.

The Sit/walk-Walk/sit combination will be repeated three times.

Obstacle

Description:  Show how well your dog can traverse an obstacle course?

Judging:  Judging will be based upon how well the dog behaves.

Event: The course will consist of the following obstacles:

Each contestant may run the course up to three times.  The judges will take the best of the runs.  The course will be set up from noon Saturday, 21 October and will be the first event on Sunday, 22 October.  Contestants are encouraged to come on Saturday and practice.
